Our Mission
Our mission is to empower caregivers with evidence-based tools to support their toddler’s language development while strengthening the caregiver-child relationship. We believe communication grows best through responsive, playful connection in everyday moments. We support early intervention teams with resources that help families feel confident and stay consistent between visits.
Our Journey
2011 – 2017
Building Clinical Roots
After receiving a bachelor’s from Cornell University and a master’s from UNC Chapel Hill, Sam begins her clinical career in acute inpatient rehab working with adults relearning language after strokes and brain injuries. She slowly transitions to working with young children in private practice and finds her calling in early language development.
2016 – 2020
Mom Mode: Activated
Sam has three children, including her own little late talker. She gets a firsthand look at what it actually feels like to be a parent navigating questions about your child's development, and the joy of being able to communicate with your child.
2019
Bringing Support to Families at Home
Sam joins an Early Intervention program, working with families in their homes during the earliest and most important window for language growth. She also starts sharing practical tips on Instagram for parents who need guidance between sessions.
2020 - 2025
A Method and a Movement
Sam starts her Facebook group which will grow to over 17,000 parents. She launches her first course and develops the Skills First Method, her signature approach to supporting late talkers that continues to guide her work today. Sam expands her online programs and coaches hundreds of parents globally, helping families feel informed and confident in supporting their child's language development at home.
July 2025 – February 2026
Building the Toolkit
Sam reimagines her online program as a physical resource—something parents and therapists could hold in their hands and refer to whenever they need. Sam refines the approach, writes the cards, and partners with a designer to bring the decks to life.
Spring 2026
The Toolkit Is Here!
15 years of clinical expertise, hundreds of families supported, and three kids of her own—all distilled into a toolkit designed for real life and real progress.
Meet Sam!
Samantha Ecker, MS, CCC-SLP is a speech-language pathologist with over 15 years of experience supporting communication across the lifespan, with a special focus on early intervention and toddler language development.
She created the Toddler Talking Toolkit to strengthen the partnership between professionals and caregivers by turning evidence-based strategies into clear, practical tools families can use in everyday routines. As a mom of three, including her own late talker, Samantha understands how overwhelming this stage can feel and how powerful it is when caregivers feel confident and supported.
Her work is grounded in evidence-based early language strategies and built around respectful, connection-based interactions that fit into real family life.
